FAQs
WHERE DO THESE RUGS COME FROM?
We are always on the hunt for a rug with character. Many are brought over from Turkey, Afghanistan, Iran, India + more. Some are sourced locally + domestically. But all have traveled + become the rugs that we love today.
HOW OLD ARE THESE RUGS?
Much of our inventory is from the early 20th century, starting as early as 1920. We try our best to source exclusively antique + vintage collections, but every now + then we come across a newer rug a rugatarian can’t pass up.
ARE THESE RUGS CLEAN?
We cannot promise a dog or a cat won’t detect something our noses cannot pick up. However each rug is carefully looked over + assessed. We will never sell a rug with a questionable stain or marking. Some of the rugs have been treated previously which is why there may be some discoloration in the dyes bleeding.
HOW WOULD I CLEAN MY RUG?
Beat the shit out of it. No really, wool rugs love a good spanking every now + then to dislodge any particles or debris that works its way in. Don’t be afraid to use a hoover, on both sides. Bake it in the hot sun to disinfect it, or leave it out in winter. If you spill something on it, dab first with a paper towel or rag, using only water as a second resort. The lanolin in wool is naturally water repellent, so stains shouldn’t settle if you act fast. Spill some spaghetti sauce? Well hopefully you bought a dark rug…
WHAT IF MY RUG DOESN’T WORK IN MY SPACE?
We believe you buy the rug, meaning size + proportion doesn’t matter. You bought the rug because it made you look. We try to keep our prices as affordable as possible so everyone can enjoy their own imperfect rug, meaning we don’t focus on returns or refunds. If you’re unhappy with your purchase, please reach out.
